Who Could This Be?

These pictures were taken of classmates and of kids I love to hang out with in extended-care at my school. The first set of pictures were taken on south campus of Horizon. The next to pictures were taken in the art room using window lighting. These pictures to the right, in the art room as well. I used back and side lighting. And the last set is of the extended-care kids in action.

I used these photos to represent this project (portraits) because they had the best composition and great use of lighting on the pictures. When I took these  I was trying to follow some composition and figuring was to use lighting in these pictures. I would like the viewers to look at these pictures and question if the picture was actually taken by me (Katerina). I hope for these pictures to be an inspiration to those who want to learn how to take better portraits.

The first set of photos have the face in the rule of thirds. The second set of pictures have the main focus (eyes) in the rule of thirds. These pictures have both of them almost like they are looking at each other. In the third set of photos the  focus is in the rule of thirds. These pictures all look towards another photo in the set. These pictures at the bottom, use the birds and worms eye view. These pictures work on lighting and the last picture in the bottom set has this small young child looking into the picture.

What's the Word?

These pictures in side this large picture were taken at Horizon Christian School and Indianapolis Art Museum. This specific word is what Jesus Christ has called us do. This is the way the Gospel gets spread around to those who are non-Christians. The Jesus came down as a man to obey his Father and doing so people came to know the Lord. Then he died on the cross for ALL sinners! He arose in three days, conquered death, and kept spreading the WORD! His last day he told the disciples to be WITNESSES to Jerusalem (home town), Judea (state you live in), Samaria (your home country), the to the ends of the earth (third world countries). a.k.a EVERYWHERE! Love the Lord and bring more to his house. This verse meant a lot to me.

IMA 101

I am going to talk about two out of six. The picture to the right of these words and the flower with bee on it about three pictures down. Well to start our art class went to the Indianapolis Art Museum for the last half of the school day. It was fun going some where new to take pictures.

This picture (right) was taken on the bridge near the Lilly House. The gate looked cool and I like the repetition of the medal flowers on this bridge, but I decided to take only one flower on this bridge. The picture farther down this page is taken in a garden right off the property of the Lilly House. In this picture I saw the bee and wanted to get a picture of this six legged creation. I got the bee and the flower it blend with. The flower was so pretty and I love that the background makes it stand out more.

This (right picture) bridge is a great artifact about this museum. The fall colors behind this bridge make the focus of the picture stand out among the photo. I like the different colors of the metallic flower. The (few pictures down) flower is such an awesome tint of yellow that I think it makes the bee stand out even more than if the flower was a different color. I n this picture I like how you can tell where the sun is coming from, but it isn't the clearest thing in the world.

The photo to the right is rule of thirds. This photo follows this concept by where the metallic flower is placed in this picture. Before I took this picture I want the flower to be about where it's at. The flower is obviously the focus of this picture. If you can't tell that the flower is the focus, well then...! The color just makes the picture even better than normal. Bee on the flower is also following the rule of thirds concept. The flower's middle piece, where the bee is laying, is the focus of the picture.

Backlightin'

This picture (to the bottom-right) was taken in my front yard at about ten in the morning during fall break. If you can't tell it was a very sunny morning and it  was cold. This came out better than want i was expecting.

This picture was taken with a small aperture, so the leaves were in focus and everything else behind it is quite blurry. I hope for people to look at the picture as a backlighting photo. I really like that the leave wasn't all one tint of green, but had not just green aspects to the photo but the showed the shading in the picture.

This photo has rule of thirds as one of the composition I used. This is applied by the whole in the leaf near the main vain of this frontal leaf. I like how the sun is kind of shining through the whole showing one way the picture is backlighting.

Stop Motion Pics.

This picture (right) was taken in my front yard. My brother and I were having fun and he decided to do a flip or some kind of jump move. The sun was bright in this midday picture. So the light that is reflecting is the sun coming in on the picture.

I hope people see the movement that is being involved in the picture taken. I really enjoy taking this image with the different lighting and other attributes. I love that the picture can be focused on two different subjects than just one. I also enjoy that my brother didn't do an ordinary handstand, but made the picture more interesting by switching up the position.

This pictures has repetition and rule of thirds. This picture involves repetition by the shapes that the sun has made. The constant different shapes the sun formed. Rule of thirds is implied here because my brothers head is in the third.
